On The Way To Holiday Lane

First things first........before I lose my copy.......ta da......paste the list for today.

Thursday November 29
Elaine - that other blog

now the explanation.   Please be patient with me.  I am typing with one finger of my left hand due to this:
So here is what happened on the way to Holiday Lane.  Knowing that I was leaving for a trip to Portugal and Spain, I began my project early.  I had the pattern from last year and was really looking forward to playing with embellishments to make one for me. So I sewed sewed sewed and went off to Spain knowing that I could finish when I got home.
On November 2, at a lovely Pousada in Evora, Portugal I fell while coming down a granite staircase. I will forever maintain that I was coming down carefully.  I will also add that the maid had been out damp-mopping the steps...........not such a good thing to be doing at 8:00 in the morning when guests are coming down to breakfast.
Sew.......after surgery in Portugal, 2 pins inserted, cast, and assorted pain issues I have realized (as have all of you by now) that my Holiday Lane Pillow will not be completed for this season.
Fortunately I had taken a picture of its progress just before I left.  I present to you my well-intentioned efforts:

What you don't see is that I had added red beads to one the trees and little lights on one of the house eaves.
Sew for now this is an UFO.  I have thoroughly enjoyed looking at everyone's creations.

Ouch! A fall during a vacation (or anytime) is tough. I hope you had more good days than recovery days in Spain. As for your pillow, it obviously was going to be gorgeous, so I look forward to seeing it someday when it is finished. I wish you a quick recovery!

It looks adoable before embellishment so I can only imagine what you will do after the cast is removed.

I'm sure you will have a few to share when you get back to stitching yours. Thanks for sharing your time and inspiration with us today. Heal quickly so you can get back to some fun sewing. Pauline

It will be so cute when you're done! Hope you get along well and get that darned old cast off soon! They are such a bother......have had 3 over the years, trash bags and duct tape for showers, lol! Have they come up with anything new for taking showers with them?

The potential for this pillow is large. Great that you got this far in advance of the hop. Not a whole lot of us can make that kind of claim. Hope your recovery goes well.

Ohhhhh bummer. You poor thing. I feel very sorry for you. I hope you screamed loudly and long after this fall. (this actually sounds like something that would happen to me)
You look so cheerful in the photo. Did you have some spiked eggnog before the photo shoot?
You are beautiful.
Your pillow is marvelous. the stars must have been aligned and you had that notion to start your project before hand (no pun intended) and created this marvelous beginning and you have the basic plan down that looks just wonderful colorful and festive!
Thank you for sharing your creativity today. So sorry your adventure ended on such a painful note. I think you should SUE the hotel for a zillion $$ then you can buy a lot more fabric :-D
best wishes for a speedy recovery my dear!
